On 12 August, Anthony Joshua faced Robert Helenius, who stepped in as a replacement for Dillian Whyte. Joshua secured a victory by stopping his opponent in the seventh round, maintaining his streak of consecutive wins in 2023. Anthony Joshua's potential fight will be with Deontay Wilder. Here's all you need to know about it!
Eddie Hearn, Anthony Joshua's promoter, has officially stated that he anticipates finalizing an agreement for a match against Deontay Wilder, the former holder of the WBC world title, within the coming weeks.
The eagerly awaited heavyweight battle is expected to occur in Saudi Arabia next January.
Hearn has noted that the only scenario in which the fight might not proceed is if Skill Challenge Promotion of Saudi Arabia does not provide the required funds to ensure the event's realization.
As per Hearn, "I think it will be finalized in two weeks." He also stated, "I’ve been to Saudi Arabia twice to negotiate this fight. I’ve had two meetings, three meetings in London. I’m not doing it for banter. My instructions from Anthony Joshua, ‘I want to fight Deontay Wilder.’"
As per Hearn, "The only way this fight doesn’t happen is if Saudi doesn’t deliver the fight. Shelly Finkel, Wilder, as far as I’m hearing from them directly, they are in. We are in. We just need to sign a contract and go through the procedures to get that done."
