Canelo Alvarez has had to undergo a terrible ordeal, days ahead of his WBA super-middleweight title fight against Rocky Fielding - his brother was kidnapped. Let's take a look at what went down.
Days before his WBA super-middleweight title fight against Rocky Fielding, Canelo Alvarez's brother was kidnapped.
Alvarez personally negotiated with the kidnappers for three days to secure his brother’s release.
In an interview with Graham Bensinger, Alvarez said, "Over the phone, I negotiated all the … I negotiated everything for his release."
Thankfully, the kidnappers let Alvarez's brother go without and harm to him.
Canelo talked about the incident, "And on top of that, I had to fight on Saturday and a thousand interviews and everything, and no one knew anything…And that’s what I’m getting at, everybody thinks wow, you know, they see me up there and they say, ‘Wow, it’s very easy.’ But nothing is easy in this life, everything is difficult."
