Muhammad Ali, Holly Holm and others boxers who ventured into the world of MMA

Over the years there have been many crossovers from MMA into boxing. However, there have been a few cases where boxers dipped their toes in the world of mixed martial arts. Today we share a few such examples with you.

Holly Holm 

During her 11 -year boxing career, Holm won titles in three weight classes and defended her belt 18 times. She successfully transitioned to MMA and won UFC gold knocking out Ronda Rousey at UFC 193

James Toney 

James Tony was a three-division champion in Boxing. His MMA career however, was not as successful as he was submitted by Randy Couture in round one at  UFC 118 in his first and only MMA fight. 

Muhammad Ali

Ali's venture into mixed martial arts against Antonio Inoki was dubbed the 'Fight of the century' the fight however was a massive flop due to the weird set of rules that were not clear.

Ray Mercer 

Former Olympic gold medallist and heavyweight champion Mercer fought twice as a professional mixed martial artist. A submission loss against Kimbo Slice and a 9-second knockout win over Tim Slyvia after which he called it quits. 

Art Jimmerson 

Jimmerson had a record of 33-18 as a boxer. His professional MMA debut did not end well as he was submitted by the legendary Royce Gracie in round one at UFC 1.
