Hagler decided to become a boxer after being roughed up by a local boxer. He went on to have an extremely successful amateur career.

Early Boxing Career 

Marvin Halger won his first middleweight title in September 1980 after stopping Alan Minter in round 15. He would go on to defend the belt a record 12 times

Middleweight Glory 

In his 67-fight career, Marvelous Marvin Hagler has been knocked out just once which is unheard of. He is known for having an iron chin

Iron Chin 

In April 1985, Hagler stopped Hearns in round 12 to defend his title. The fight between the two men is considered to this day one of the best boxing fighters ever.
