Mike Tyson has had fights that have been remembered by fans for years. One such remarkable and memorable fight of his would be with gang leader, Mitch Green. Tyson's fight with Green was especially memorable because it was a street fight. Today, let's revisit this fight of Tyson, 35 years down the line!
Tyson had already defeated Green in a boxing match in 1986, which determined the latter to get revenge. Additionally, he and his gang believed that Tyson was stepping onto their turf.
In Harlem, Tyson visited Dapper Dan's clothing shop to buy an $850 white leather jacket featuring the words "Don't Believe the Hype." Green, informed of Tyson's presence, stormed into the shop shirtless, hurling insults at his arch-nemesis.
According to Tyson, the altercation began when Green ripped his shirt pocket, prompting Tyson to respond in self-defense. Green, on the other hand, asserts that Tyson turned his rings around to protect them and then unexpectedly punched him.
However, this means that Tyson threw the initial punch, followed by several more during the altercation. At one point, Tyson delivered his signature punch and Green reportedly got hit quite badly.
Green was reportedly left with facial bruising, a left eye swollen shut and a cut on his nose bridge. Whereas, Tyson ended up with a hairline fracture of his right hand.
