Canelo Alvarez is gearing up to defend his undisputed super middleweight world championship against Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas on September 30th. However, another very anticipated match of Alvarez is with Terence Crawford. Here's all we know about the match!
Canelo initially downplayed the idea of a mega bout but appears to be more open to it now. He mentioned, "At the end of the day, I don't want to have credit to face Crawford no matter what, but you never know."
Following his win against Errol Spence Jr., Crawford has emphasized his desire for only mega fights moving forward. At 35 years old, turning 36 next month, he openly acknowledges that he's nearing the end of his career.
Crawford is willing to jump three weight divisions and face the winner, even if it's Canelo, as he approaches the twilight of his career after defeating Errol Spence Jr.
As per Canelo, "It's possible, why not? It's possible." He also said, "If it makes sense, I'm down to do it. I don't care who is there, I'm always able to fight anybody."
Canelo holds the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO super-middleweight (168 lbs) world championships, while Crawford is the undisputed WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO welterweight (147 lbs) world champion.
