Apart from his boxing skills, Mike Tyson is most popularly known for his aggressive nature and short temper. These qualities worked for him in the ring, making him the most fearsome boxer ever. One time when he was the most fearsome was when he fought, and ended, a gang leader.
Tyson fought with a gang leader, Mitch Green on May 20, 1986. The fight was billed as New York Is Busting Out.
Due to Tyson's shorter stature (5 foot 11), Green had a significant height advantage and used it to give Tyson a surprising challenge.
Tyson emerged victorious with a lopsided unanimous decision, as reflected by the judges' scores of 9-1 and 8-2 in his favor.
On August 24, 1988, Green confronted Tyson at Dapper Dan's in Harlem, alleging that Tyson's promoter, Don King, owed him money. This led to a physical altercation, right there in the street.
Tyson's straight right hand to Green's face shut his left eye and cut his nose, requiring five stitches. Tyson's right hand also fractured in the fight.
