In a fight against Errol Spence Jr., Yordenis Ugas was directed to stop the fight as his eye injury worsened. Is he ready for his upcoming fight against Mario Barrios? Let's find out!
Yordenis Ugas and Mario Barrios, will face off for the coveted vacant Interim WBC World Welterweight Title. This match will be his return to the ring after his eye injury and his loss to Errol Spence Jr. in 2022.
In the fight against Spence Jr., Ugás faced a defeat through a technical knockout in the tenth round. The fight had to be stopped because of Ugas’ swollen right eye.
Ugas sustained a fractured orbital bone and the welterweight unification clash against Errol Spence was halted by Spence.
On being asked if he ready for his fight against Barrios, Ugas stated, "Right now I feel good. It has been a long road, 16 and a half months since the last fight, but thank God we have traveled that type of path in other years and now with the favor of God I'm ready to return to the sport."
He also talked about his recovery and the competitor that he is, "Everyone knows what I can give, the competitor that I am. I don't have much to prove. Yes, I come from fighting the injury, but we are already healed."
