The Last of Us Showrunner Reveals Heading Straight to New Prospects With Season 2

Craig Mazin, creator of Netflix's The Last of Us, is happy with the show's 24 Emmy nominations. But he is also worried about fans' reaction to the story change in the second season.

Will the script for The Last of Us Season 2 deviate from the narrative of 'Part II'?

Craig Mazin, the Emmy-nominated writer and director of The Last of Us, recently discussed ideas for Season 2. He assured viewers that the show would feature new and impressive stuff in addition to adapting the events of the game.

Mazin spoke about plans for season 2. “I’m never gonna say there are things that are gonna happen in the show that happened in the game,”

Mazin highlights that rather than writing a story to spark panic on social media, he and his team are dedicated to telling it the way they believe it should be done.

He also admitted that since the plot of the game has already been determined, he has no control over how Season 2 will result.

Director confirmed, “There are things that will shock people, things that were in the game, things that were not in the game, and that’s okay.”

Balancing Originality and Fan Expectations for 'The Last of Us' Season 2

Craig Mazin will follow the same process for season 2 of The Last of Us, but he won't necessarily get the same results.

“not necessarily achieve the same outcome.” He elaborates, “It is ultimately the only process I really know and understand as somebody that writes things and directs and produces.”

He's still opting for Abby Anderson, and fans are already debating who should play her.
