The current Team Principal of the Red Bull F1 team, Christian Horner, has been married to one of the members of the former band Spice Girls, the Ginger Spice, Geri Halliwell since 2015. He recently talked about learning so much about the LGBTQ+ community, which holds a significant value to Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton.
Hamilton has been an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and their inclusiveness in F1 and other sports. During the Saudi Arabian GP, he showcased the pride flag on his helmet. In 2021, he showed the same thing in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Notably, those countries have anti-LGBTQ+ laws and Hamilton was silently yet loudly protesting against those laws.
The Red Bull Racing team has been actively displaying pride flags in their facility. Moreover, they have encouraged their employees to keep pride flags on their desks. They are also trying to educate their employees more about the LGBTQ+ community.
In the recent episode of the ‘The Fast and the Curious’ podcast, Horner said, “I have learned a lot, because obviously my wife is an icon in the gay community, and she has taught an awful lot about it.”
