Although F1 is the highest level of motorsport, engineering isn't everything. It's about bringing about change and giving it a platform by acting as the change. F1 formerly offered a platform to aid in the battle against racism, and it is now assisting those in need in Italy. F1 and Stefano Domenicali followed Ferrari and gave a $1,079,000 gift to assist people in need. The F1 fans were proud to support the sport.
The Emilia Romagna GP that was supposed to be held this weekend got canceled because of flooding in the region due to massive rain showers and thunderstorms. F1 released a press release on Wednesday as they explained the reason behind the cancellation. In an attempt to provide help to the ones suffering, Ferrari donated $1,079,000 to Emilia-Romagna Region’s Agency for Territorial Safety and Civil Protection.
According to F1’s official Twitter account post, Stefano Domenicali said, “The situation facing the communities in the region is terrible, but I know that the resilience and passion of the people in the region, like so many across Italy, will prevail through this crisis. We must do everything we can to support them at this difficult time and that is why we are donating to help support the relief efforts on the ground. My thoughts, on behalf of the entire Formula 1 community, are with everyone affected and we want to thank the emergency services for their incredible work.”
