Ferrari Prepares to Break Bank for Luring Lewis Hamilton With a $14,000,000 Move

In Formula 1, money is the ultimate goal. Take a look at how Lawrence Stroll invested extensively in the squad to turn around Aston Martin's financial situation. The same is true for Mercedes, who made significant investments before the 2012 season and went on to rule for eight years. Lewis Hamilton is entering the final year of his meagre $35,000,000 Mercedes deal, thus Ferrari is preparing to pull off a $14,000,000 coup to lure him to Maranello. What is the genius move, though?

rumours of hamilton joining ferrari

Eddie Jordan said that F1 needs Lewis Hamilton in a Ferrari at the beginning of the season. Later, when Mercedes failed to provide a competitive car and Hamilton's criticism of the W14 grew, the rumours of his joining Ferrari grew louder.

About a month later, rumors of Charles Leclerc joining Mercedes popped up as Lewis Hamilton was and still is in his last year of Mercedes’ contract. Regardless, both the drivers put an end to the rumors by suggesting how they love their current team and want to win with them.

SPECULATION MIGHT BE SOLID

However recently the speculation of Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari has come up again. And this time the interest is being shown from the Maranello side. Dailymail.co.uk suggests Ferrari is set to offer Lewis Hamilton a deal to sign with them. The site suggests that Ferrari is ready to offer the 7X champion a $49,710,000 worth deal. Not only will Lewis Hamilton get another chance at his 8th championship, but it is also a $14,000,000 hike compared to his current Mercedes contract.

CARLOS SAINZ ON HIS IMMEDIATE FUTURE WITH FERRARI

As Dailymail suggested, if Ferrari decides to sign Lewis Hamilton, then they would be left to make a choice. Either they can pair Charles Leclerc alongside Lewis Hamilton or it could be Carlos Sainz. In case Ferrari decided to stick Sainz alongside Hamilton, then it would most probably be a swap with Mercedes where Leclerc would go to the Silver Arrows to become George Russell’s teammate.

According to the-race.com, Carlos Sainz said, “My immediate future, I only see it with Ferrari and wanting to be successful with this team. There’s nothing that would make me happier than winning again with Ferrari, than mounting a title challenge with Ferrari. If you win it or not, it’s a championship fight. You can come out on top or not. But mounting that challenge is short- and medium-term what really motivates me. I feel really at home with the team. There’s a good atmosphere.”
