How 10-Year-Old Friendship Between Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff Is Coming in the Way of $35 Million Worth Contract Renewal

Lewis Hamilton has been with the Mercedes team for almost a decade now. Safe to say, Toto Wolff, the Team Principal of Mercedes, and Hamilton share a pretty special bond. Currently, Hamilton is in the final year of his contract. Amidst rumors about him going to the other team, Wolff recently talked about the friendship between him and Hamilton, as they talked about a new deal.

Why Hamilton hasn’t signed a new deal?


Hamilton is still targeting the elusive 8th Championship, which will make him the most decorated F1 driver of all time. However, Mercedes are falling behind Red Bull, and they are currently out of the Championship picture. That’s why Hamilton was waiting to sign a new deal. Now, it seems like he has changed his mind and will earn more than his current salary, i.e. $35 million. 



Mercedes to offer Hamilton a massive deal


As per Daily Mail, Mercedes will offer Hamilton his final F1 contract, which will see him earn $63 million. There will also be some special clauses in his contract, as he will serve as a Mercedes Brand Ambassador in the future. 

Toto Wolff talked about his bond with Hamilton

In a recent interview, Wolff said, “We have such a good relationship that we dread the moment we have to talk about money!” Speaking about a new deal, Wolff said, “It’s going to happen soon. I think we’re talking more days than weeks… I get to see him today, we can talk about it.”
