The 2021 Abu Dhabi GP witnessed one of the most controversial moments, which helped Max Verstappen beat Lewis Hamilton to win the championship. Meanwhile, the race before that had another controversial moment, which drew some extreme reactions from Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff. Recently, the Red Bull Team Principal talked about Wolff’s reaction, as he probably took an indirect dig at him.

With Lewis Hamilton’s championship on the line, he had to win the penultimate race at the Saudi Arabian GP. However, at one point it seemed like Max Verstappen brake-tested Hamilton, which almost took out the Brit’s car. This incident drew an extreme reaction from Wolff, as he slammed his $229 worth Bose headset on the table.
After his reaction went viral on social media, he talked about it, saying, “We knew we had to win every race in order to win the world championship, so when Max brake-tested Lewis and it looked like we’d lost a front wing, I couldn’t believe that he’d just done that. That’s where that reaction came from.”
Although the incident happened two years ago, Mercedes still remembers the last few races of the 2021 season. Rubbing salt into the wounds of Wolff, Red Bull Team Principal, Christian Horner recently said, “I would never have had such a reaction.”
