The beginning of Ricciardo to Ferrari rumors

The  Ricciardo to Ferrari rumors started as far back as 2015 a possible drive for 2016 was the rumored headline but nothing ever came out of this Daniel  Ricciardo would extend his contract with Red Bull but from then on he still
seemed to be linked to Ferrari in an almost weird way.

why was Ricciardo linked to Ferrari?

First of all he was good like really good so I think a lot of people thought well if Kimmy decides to retire or Ferrari decide to move him on Daniel Ricciardo has to be the next option he's young talented and would fit into Ferrari very well he's also got an Italian background and seems like a Ferrari driver there seemed to be no solid record of Ricciardo totally ruling out a Ferrari Drive.

Sebastian Vettel lured Daniel Ricciardo to join Ferrari in 2018

Meanwhile, Ricciardo recalled before joining Renault there were offers from other teams, including Mercedes and Ferrari, and he was lured to make a move to the Italian team after witnessing Vettel fighting for the championship. “In my head, it was one of the options, especially when the team was fighting for the championship while Seb was there. The team was in a good position,” said Daniel Ricciardo.
