Arnold said he doesn’t know whether Tiger would ever surpass Nicklaus’ record in major championships. However he said, “Tiger Woods is the most dominant, most skilled player we have ever seen.”
Although he didn’t outrightly say it, it was evident from his statement that Palmer thinks Tiger is the best of all the golfers who have ever lived.
Palmer saw Woods when he was a young amateur and won the US Junior Amateur in 1991.Palmer and Tiger had developed a mentor-student relationship with each other. In an interview after Palmer’s death, Tiger said, “I knew that I could always call him for advice, and I looked forward to seeing him at Bay Hill and the Masters.”
Palmer passed away in 2016. Before he could see Tiger’s win at the 2019 Masters. However, his PR team didn’t forget to commemorate Woods’ win by revisiting what Palmer told Golf Channel about his unmatchable talent.
