“That was by far the best golf I ever played,” DeChambeau said. He talked about how he considers 2018 as his best season yet after a round at the 150th Open. “I feel like I’m getting back to that position with this new speed, which is great,” he added.
The 28-year-old is known for being one of the longest hitters in the world of golf. However, he wasn’t able to hit any bombs recently because of his hip and wrist injuries. After having surgery and enough rest, the video proves that his speed and distance covered have increased.
DeChambeau showed confidence as he compared his present form to the one he had in 2018. Notably, after three rounds at the Open Championship, he is ranked at T18, the highest he has ever reached this season.
DeChambeau first played at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in 2018, after which his OWGR rank was 94. He finished off the season by securing a T12 at the Hero World Challenge, after which he ranked 5th on the OWGR!
In 2018, the Mad Scientist played 27 tournaments and won 4 of them, including the Memorial Tournament. Furthermore, his solo second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and T3 rank at the RBC Heritage were some of his best outcomes in 2018. Interestingly, he made the cut in all the events he played in that year, except for five of them.
