During her rookie year in the LGPA Tour, Cheyenne Woods had a heart-to-heart conversation with Players Tribune. She shared how all her life she has been associated with Tiger Woods, despite working hard to earn a name for herself.
Cheyenne Woods said, “Of course, I realize that regardless of what I accomplish in my career, there are probably going to be plenty of people who always consider me “Tiger’s niece”.” Since many people would take draw the wrong idea from her words, Cheyenne did make it clear that she does respect her 15-time Major winner uncle.
“I’m very proud to be related to my uncle, but it’s not what defines me as a golfer or a person”, said Cheyenne. She ends by saying, “Yes, my last name is Woods — but you can call me Cheyenne”. The female star has two professional wins to her name.
Cheyenne Woods became only the sixth African American to play on the Tour. In February this year, Cheyenne married New York Yankee center fielder Aaron Hicks. The couple welcomed their first baby earlier this year in May.
Deeming to her pregnancy, Cheyenne Woods has yet to compete at an LGPA Tour event this year. However, still only 31 years of age, she still has a lot more to offer to the sport. Considering her bloodline, the Woods family only seems to get better as they age.
