The Canadian-born NHL legend, and the father-in-law of famous golfer Dustin Johnson, enjoys his time on the course. Gretzky and Johnson can be seen playing with each other in several pro-am events like the AT&T Pebble Beach. Gretzky might not be as good as Johnson with a golf club, but he can certainly swing it well!
Wayne Gretzky is a regular playing companion of Dustin Johnson at the Sherwood Country Club in California. Moreover, thanks to golf, he met Johnson back in 2012 at a golf skills event for charity, and after that, the two got even closer when Dustin started dating his daughter.
He said, “I birdied No. 1 on the first day. My son is a pretty good player, and he left his birdie putt about an inch short. I was teasing him that his old man made a birdie putt at Augusta before he did!”
Gretzky has in fact improved his handicap over time. Just over a decade ago, the 61-year-old was a 10.6 handicap and he’s now brought it down to 9.4. He can certainly bring it down further with consistent practice, but can he become a scratch golfer?
