LA Dodgers land Freddie Freeman for a whopping $162 million on a six-year deal

Earlier this week, when Freeman’s former team, the Braves, traded first baseman Matt Olson, it was crystal clear that they had given up on Freeman. Because having two top-class players for the same position wasn’t adding up. Now, two days after that trade, Freeman has moved out and signed a new contract with the Dodgers.

Freeman has become the second-highest average annual valued ($27 million) first baseman in MLB history

With this deal, the 32-year-old player has become the second-highest average annual valued ($27 million) first baseman in MLB history. Before him, only Miguel Cabrera’s eight-year deal with Detroit Tigers had more annual salary ($31 million) as a first baseman.
