5 NASCAR Underdogs Who Could Ace Over the Favorites to Make It to the Playoffs

NASCAR

As the playoff is approaching, 10 drivers have already booked their place in the playoffs; and there are only 6 spots left.

There are many popular names, like Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace, and others who have not booked their place in the playoffs. Also, there are some underdogs who could surprise the big stars and clinch the playoff spot.

5. Chase Briscoe

28-year-old Stewart-Haas Racing driver, had a pretty good start this year. However, he lost his momentum a little bit in the last few races. With 183 points, he is currently in 31st place in the driver's standings. He recently finished 4th in the All-Star Race and could surprise everyone with a win.

4. Austin Dillon

The grandson of Richard Childress, Dillon, had a pretty poor 2023 season so far. However, he could still qualify for the playoffs. He had one top 5 finish so far. In terms of points, he is in 29th place with 219 points.

3. Chase Elliott

Although Elliott is a big name, he is currently an underdog because of his current standing. He has 247 points and is currently sitting in 27th position. The HMS driver missed the first few races because of an injury. At the moment, collecting points won’t do him any good, as he has to win to secure a playoff place.

2. Daniel Suarez

The Mexican-American driver is currently in 17th place with 328 points. The Trackhouse Racing driver already had a top-five finish this season and could push some of the drivers out of the top 16 to clinch a playoff place.

1. Bubba Wallace

Although the 23XI Racing driver is in 15th place, he’s yet to clinch a playoff spot. He did not have great results in the last 2 races. However, he has the ability to win races, as he has 4 top-five finishes already this season.
