With the number of injuries faced by drivers in the Cup Series’ Next Gen cars, NASCAR has decided to make changes to the cars for 2023 in a recent meeting.
The meeting confirmed that NASCAR would include a new rare bumper structure and rear clip to ensure driver safety.
Alex Bowman’s recent accident in the Next-Gen car caused him to have concussion-like symptoms which shed light on drivers like Kurt Busch and Cody Ware that had injuries in the new car.
The number of injuries seen in the 2022 season proved how risky the new cars were as NASCAR has not witnessed such incidents since Dale Earnhardt’s tragedy.
