A snowboarding accident forced Elliott out for the first few races of the season. Even though he returned, he has failed to win a single race so far. Moreover, a controversial crash with Denny Hamlin at the Coca-Cola 600 led to a one-race suspension for the HMS driver. However, he came back strong at Sonoma Raceway, as he finished in the top 5.

Elliott talks about the Sonoma race

In a recent interview, Elliott said, “Sonoma was a nice run for us. We didn’t win or anything, but I think we just had a good, solid weekend… just thought we did a lot of little things good last weekend, and I felt like I kind of just plugged right back into a good stride and a good cadence.”
