A few days ago, Denny Hamlin got dragged into the Kyle Busch–JGR controversy when he revealed the reason Joe Gibbs decided to part ways with his former teammate after so many glorious years. However, despite his “cease to exist” comment on Busch’s JGR exit, Hamlin recently handed Kyle Busch the GOAT contention, while praising his former teammate.
In a recent iteration of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Denny Hamlin stated, “I mean he is starting to put himself, in my mind, in the top five consideration for greatest of all time.”
“And for him to have like 60 wins, I’m telling you that’s like a 160 wins, from 1960 to 1990. It really is so he is accomplishing a lot he has done it now two races into this relationship with RCR.”
Denny shared that JGR had the intention of retaining Busch. However, it got really difficult to meet Busch’s salary demands after Mars pulled back their sponsorship. Moreover, Hamlin also claimed that JGR would have “cease(d) to exist” if they agreed with Rowdy’s demands.
