Does Frankie Muniz Really Have the Talent to Get Out of “Middle” & Into Cup Series?

‘Malcolm in the Middle’ (2000-06) fame, Frankie Muniz made his dream a reality, as he finally became a race car driver earlier this year. He joined Rette Jones Racing in the ARCA Menards series for the 2023 season.

Although he finally achieved his dream by becoming a stock car driver, can he really get into the Cup Series?

In 6 races so far in the ARCA Series, Muniz has 5 top-10 finishes. At one point, he was sitting at the top of the drivers’ standings. Currently, he is in second place behind Jesse Love.

Muniz opens up about becoming a racer

Speaking to Frontstretch.com, the former actor said, “I wish I did this 20 years ago because there’s nothing as exciting as racing these cars… I love open-wheel racing. I thought that’s what I wanted to do, and I enjoyed it when I did it. But after the start, everyone gets single file and you’re kind of waiting for people to make mistakes. The wheel-to-wheel action of this is insane.”

Can Muniz get into the Cup Series?

After gaining enough experience in ARCA, he needs to try out other series, like the Indy 500, and Xfinity Series before getting into the Cup Series. However, he needs to bring sponsors with him to get into the Cup Series. Certainly, it’s not an easy thing to do. Although he already confirmed securing a car for the 2024 season, he talked about the financial struggle. But one thing is for sure, he could prove a lot of people wrong, as he has already shown his abilities on the track.
