After Hendrick Motorsports was found guilty of modifying louvers prior to the race at Phoenix Raceway, a collective fine of $400,000 was imposed on them from the governing body. They also face a deduction of 100 owner points and 10 playoff points for each of their driving teams.
“I like em [NASCAR] to do things that are going to deter this across the board and, and frighten the entire garage right, from messing around any grey area. And points are the one thing that, that is so precious to these teams.”
“They [teams] can figure out, find a way to pay the monetary fine, they can figure that out and make that work on the book...Now points are common than fines and that’s because NASCAR knows that’s the one thing that the teams, are not really willing to give up.”
Obviously, fans had their own reaction to this. Some of the fans are optimistic about their expectations. Some fans also believe the appeal will bring no significant change.
