Bubba Wallace has found himself at the center of the racing world, using his influence on and off the track to help move the sport forward. Naturally, his way to the top was not a piece of cake. With that being said, let's take a look at Wallace's journey to the top.
Throughout his first two seasons in the K&N Pro Series East, Wallace won five races. He won Rookie of the Year for the 2010 campaign, making history as the first Black driver to do so.
Wallace began competing in the Xfinity Series, the second tier of NASCAR racing, in 2012. Of the four races he started that year, three of them saw Wallace finish in the top 10.
In October 2013, Wallace, who had been competing frequently in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, earned his first victory on the track.
Due to his success in the Truck Series, he was elevated to a regular position in the Xfinity Series for the 2015 campaign. Wallace, who raced for Roush Fenway Racing, never claimed a victory but always posed a threat to challenge for the top 10 on any given track.
In 2017, Wallace received a call from Richard Petty Motorsports and filled in for injured driver Aric Almirola during the middle of the season.
