42-year-old Joe Gibbs Racing driver, Denny Hamlin made plenty of headlines this past Sunday, claiming victory at Kansas Speedway. Notably, after a long time, Hamlin won a race after going winless for almost a year. Meanwhile, after this win, he equaled his former teammate Tony Stewart.
Hamlin finally ended his dry spell after winning in Kansas this Sunday. In the final lap, he passed Kyle Larson to claim his 49th career victory.

Hamlin equaled StewartHamlin’s former teammate and Hall of Famer Tony Stewart retired from the racetrack in 2016. However, Hamlin continued his run and finally matched Stewart’s tally of 49 total career wins.
Hamlin said in the post-race press conference, “Yeah, it’s big. Certainly, that’s why I want to get at least 11 more, is that it just puts you up there with some of the really, really big names of the sport. But again, being matched with Tony is unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. I certainly didn’t think I’d ever have won, much less that many.”
