One of the most decorated NASCAR teams of all time, Joe Gibbs Racing, has been making all the headlines recently with the sale of their minority stake.

Meanwhile, the president of the JGR, Dave Alpern, cleared the air recently regarding the future of the team going forward.

The history of Joe Gibbs Racing

Former professional football coach Joe Gibbs started his journey in NASCAR with JGR back in 1991. JGR has completed over 2000 races in NASCAR, winning 5 Cup Series and 4 Xfinity Series driver championships. Currently, they have four full-time cars in the Cup Series and three cars in the Xfinity Series.

The sale of JGR

Joe Gibbs recently sold a minority stake in the team to Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment (HBSE). Notably, Josh Harris and David Blitzer started this sports and property management company in 2017. As of now, they own the NHL's New Jersey Devils and the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. After owning a NASCAR team, they are also aiming to become the owners of the NFL’s Washington Commanders.

JGR President talks about the future of the team

In a recent interview with Dave Moody of SiriusXM, JGR president Dave Alpern said, “They are betting on us to succeed. They have a vested interest in us continuing to win at the pace that we are winning. Where they’re going to help us are in the areas that they’re great at… Our names not changing, it's Joe Gibbs Racing. Votes at Joe Gibbs Racing will probably go pretty similar to how they have gone for 30 years…Nothing in that area is gonna change.”
