Kyle Larson's New Challenge: From NASCAR to IndyCar
NASCAR
Kyle Larson, the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series' standout rookie, is set to make his debut in the IndyCar Series in 2024. Despite his recent success, Larson is looking for a new challenge.
Larson's IndyCar Debut
Larson is expected to pilot a fourth McLaren-Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports in the 108th Indy 500 next May. However, this new venture might not be smooth sailing as Larson admitted, “I haven’t gotten anything yet," "I’ll be in the sim on Monday, and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of that information then."
The Double-Header Challenge
In 2024, Larson will be the first since Kurt Busch in 2014 to tackle the 1,100-mile Memorial Weekend double-header: racing in the Indy 500 and then speeding off to NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte on the same day.
Before his debut, Larson will join the likes of Marcus Armstrong and Linus Lundqvist in the Rookie Orientation Program. However, Larson shared his concerns about balancing his current playoff challenges in NASCAR and gearing up for Indy. "It’s tough because it’s in the middle of our playoffs, and I’m not entirely invested in that yet," he said.
