There are athletes like Tom Brady, for instance, who have ridiculed this understanding of how long can an athlete keep at it on the top level. But how about NASCAR? Who among the current harvest of “senior” drivers can be considered the Brady of stock car racing?
The two-time Cup Series champion, Kyle Busch, recently gave an interview on the Residency Podcast. During the conversation, he was asked about the age bracket that could be considered the “Tom Brady age” in NASCAR.
“I’m kind of looking at it as the Tom Brady–Peyton Manning aspect where they left great teams, great organizations where they won championships, and they went on and were able to win championships somewhere else. So I’d like to think that I still have that opportunity to be able to do that with RCR.”
“(Kevin) Harvick right now, he’s in his retirement year,” Busch said. “I think he’s 46, I think he turns 47 before the season’s over, so I’m 37. I’m working on my crow’s feet right now.”
