NASCAR
Ross Chastain had another incident at the Gateway last week when he bumped into Michael McDowell. The Front Row Motorsports driver was not happy with the contact.
Meanwhile, Denny Hamlin gave some advice to Chastain regarding picking a fight with McDowell, as the JGR driver described him as one of the strongest drivers.
The Chastain-McDowell altercation at Gateway
During the stage 2 restart, the incident took place in turn 2. Joey Logano was on the outside of McDowell and Chastain was on the inside. Chastain was trying to pass him on the inside when he made contact with the FRM driver and he spun into the wall.

Denny Hamlin looked back at the incident
In the recent episode of his ‘Actions Detrimental’ podcast, Hamlin said, “I looked at the wreck. I guess you could definitely label it as a racing deal for sure. I mean I think that Chastain made a three-wide move into turn 1. Contact is inevitable at that point… So the #34 car, while he did not give the #1 a lot of room, he had no choice…”
“I’ve said multiple times, the person I’d least like to be in a scuffle with is Michael McDowell for sheer size and you know when he put Suarez in the hood of his car. Like he’s probably got some country strong to him.”
