Ross Chastain Refuses to Apologize for the Shift in Media Perception Since His Major Cup Series Success Last Season

NASCAR

One of the most polarizing drivers in NASCAR at the moment is Ross Chastain. The Trackhouse Racing driver had many incidents in the past, which drew criticism from fellow drivers and fans.

He recently talked about receiving all the criticism and the media perception around him, as he opened up before Nashville.

Chastain’s reputation as a driver

Despite possessing loads of talent, he always got involved with other drivers in various racing incidents. Previously, he got into altercations with Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, and others. This season, he was involved in a fistfight with Noah Gragson. In a 47-race stretch, Chastain was involved in 13 wrecks with 9 different drivers. Hence, many fans use the term ‘Chastain-ed’ for wrecking the car.

Chastain opens up about receiving criticism

In a recent interview with The Wilson Post, Chastain said, “In racing, things happen, I’m human, and I make mistakes. I’m learning. It’s part of the evolution… Back when I wasn’t running up front, nobody paid any attention to how I drove. Now every time I sneeze, it’s a story. I race hard every lap, I don’t apologize for that.”
