The NASCAR landscape is set for a shakeup in 2024, with Spire Motorsports at the forefront of some major changes.
Kyle Busch Motorsports Sold to Spire
Spire Motorsports has acquired Kyle Busch Motorsports, a successful team that produced championship-caliber drivers like William Byron, Christopher Bell, and Erik Jones. The deal includes the team's 77,000-square-foot shop near Charlotte, workforce, and heavy machinery. Spire Motorsports ambitions this year's biggest money games, with the acquisition estimated at a hefty $30 million.
Expansion to a Three-Car Team
Following the acquisition of Kyle Busch Motorsports, Spire plans to expand to a three-car team for next year's Cup Series campaign. This move comes after the team brought in Andretti Global Gainbridge Financial earlier this year and purchased another charter for $40 million.
Amidst these significant changes, rumors about former F1 champion Mario Andretti's possible entry into NASCAR are circulating. Brett Griffin from Kaulig Racing hinted at this on the Door Bumper Clear podcast: "There's a lot of rumors going around, Andretti being involved in this right?" With Spire's new resources and equipment from Busch, Andretti's involvement is certainly something to watch.
