Tony Stewart’s Old Enemy Goodyear Angers NASCAR Nation With Its Poor Tires at Kansas

NASCAR

The NASCAR community is up in arms over the poor performance of Goodyear's tires at the Kansas Speedway. This comes after 4-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart criticized NASCAR's official tire supplier.

The Kansas Race Fiasco

The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs started with Kyle Larson and Tyler Reddick securing their spots in the next round. However, the Kansas race was marred by incidents that fell short of fans' expectations. The billion-dollar company Goodyear faced criticism for its inadequate tires, which caused problems during the race.

Tony Stewart's Criticism

Tony Stewart and his then teammate, Ryan Newman, had previously expressed their frustration over Goodyear's tires. In the early 2008-2009, Goodyear faced sharp criticism from drivers for its excess tire wear, causing havoc on the track. Stewart did not mince his words and called out Goodyear rubber as "ridiculous".

The Aftermath

The recent race in Kansas saw a repeat of these tire faults. Kyle Busch fell victim during Saturday’s practice session after a tire cut sent the #8 RCR Chevy into the wall. His former teammate, Martin Truex Jr, also experienced these issues during the race. This incident served as a reminder of what Tony Stewart meant when he criticized Goodyear.
