During the recent segment with NASCAR, many drivers were ranking throwback paint schemes of other drivers’ cars. At one point, Jimmie Johnson’s Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty schemed car came up. While Chase Elliott praised the scheme, Brad Keselowski blasted the design.
In 2020, at the Southern 500, teams were using throwback paint schemes to celebrate the previous legends. Johnson was using Earnhardt and Petty’s schemes in his #48 Chevrolet. He even dressed like Earnhardt. Notably, Johnson is tied with those 2 legends with 7 Cup Series wins, the most in history.
During NASCAR’s throwback segment, Elliott talked about Johnson’s amazing tribute. He said, “I don’t think this got enough credit, I think this was pretty cool.” Meanwhile, Ryan Blaney said, “Its pretty gangster. Yeah, I mean, no one else can do that.”

RFK Racing driver, Brad Keselowski, said, “I didn’t like this one at all. I thought this might’ve been the ugliest racecar I’ve ever seen in my life.” Another RFK Racing driver, Chris Buescher, had the same opinion, as he said, “It’s too mixed up.”
