Wonder Why Bubba Wallace Is the Most Hated Driver in NASCAR? Here’s Why.

NASCAR

In 2022, a survey showed the list of the top 10 most hated drivers in NASCAR, where 23XI Racing driver, Bubba Wallace’s name was at the top.

Often, fans show their love for a certain driver and show their hatred for one particular driver. Wallace’s name certainly falls under the ‘hatred’ category. So, let’s take a look at the reasons why he receives so much hate from fans.

Wallace is on Michael Jordan’s team

Although Wallace is pretty talented, he has not accomplished anything in NASCAR. His best finish in the Cup Series came in 2022 when he finished in 19th position. His results in the Xfinity Series were not that great. Despite that, he got an opportunity to drive for MJ’s team, 23XI Racing, where he won’t have any problems attracting sponsors. On the other hand, many talented drivers don’t get opportunities because of a lack of sponsors.

Does Wallace get special treatment?

It is worth noting that Wallace is currently the only African-American driver in NASCAR. Hence, he gets plenty of publicity in the media. However, many fans don’t like the constant talk surrounding Wallace. Moreover, many fans believe Wallace gets special treatment because of his roots and because he is on MJ’s team.

Wallace was involved in many on-track incidents; some of those were his fault, and some of those were not. Last year, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Wallace intentionally crashed into one of the popular drivers in NASCAR, Kyle Larson. Then, he started a fight on the track with the HMS driver. Fans certainly did not like it. Later, he was suspended for one race.

Wallace’s straightforward interviews

Often he talks pretty straightforwardly in interviews. Earlier, he straightaway asked his boss to fire him after he made a mistake on the track. In another interview, he showed his middle finger on Live TV, which garnered plenty of controversy. Safe to say, he is not gaining any new fans with his antics both on and off the track. Until he wins a championship, he probably won't win any hearts.
