Worrying Roadblocks to NASCAR’s $113 Million Worth Chicago Street Race Dream

NASCAR

Last year in July, NASCAR invested a massive amount of money in the Chicago Street Race, as the race will take place next month in July.

Safe to say, expectations are huge surrounding the race. Moreover, many experts believe that the race could increase the local economy to a massive level. However, massive expectations could also be its downfall.

NASCAR’s deal with Chicago Street Race

As per reports, NASCAR has invested around $50 million in the Chicago Street Race. Last July, they made a 3-year deal with this race. This will not be like oval races, as the 12-turn, 2.2-mile race course will certainly challenge the drivers to drive at a certain speed. The race will take place on 1 and 2 July.

Chicago Street Race President has high hopes

Chicago Street Race President, Julie Giese, talked about the importance of this race to NASCAR and the people of Chicago, saying, “For us, being in Chicago is incredibly important… It’s an important market for us from a fan perspective… a great opportunity to showcase the city as well as NASCAR.”

The expectations surrounding the Chicago Race

Experts believe the race could infuse around $113 million into the local economy. Also, the expected crowd is around 100,000. Moreover, people from out of town are also expected to visit, which will increase the hotel business as well. However, the viewership of NASCAR has gone down massively from last year, which could become a massive roadblock for NASCAR at this event. On the other hand, it could live up to expectations and become a massive thing for NASCAR.
