As Giannis Antetokounmpo Threatens to Leave, Bucks’ 2022-23 Season Confirmed a ‘Failure’ by NBA Insider: “Can We Just Call It What It Was?”

After being defeated in the opening round of the playoffs the previous year, Giannis Antetokounmpo delivered an energising speech. The top seed for the 2023 playoffs was the Milwaukee Bucks. In the first round of the Eastern Conference, they encountered the eighth-seeded Miami Heat. Ten minutes into Game 1, Giannis suffered an injury, missing the following two contests. Jimmy Butler and company grasped their opportunity and finished off the team in five games. However, Giannis refrained from labelling the Bucks' 2022–23 campaign a "Failure".

Did Giannis Antetokounmpo “Fail” last season?

The presenter of The Lowe Post Podcast, Zach Lowe, brought up the debate from the previous episode in which he labelled the Bucks season a "Failure." The Greek Freak became angry with a reporter after the game for asking him if the season had been a failure after being humiliated by the Miami Heat in the opening round of the playoffs. Giannis expressed his frustration with the issue in a moving speech about sports failure, saying, "It's not failure, it's steps to success." The two-time MVP mentioned Michael Jordan and questioned whether MJ's nine seasons without a championship were a failure. "There is no failure in sports,” Giannis said.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready to win again

Giannis still remembers the Miami Heat defeat from last season with a bad taste in his mouth. He has been healing from his injuries throughout the off-season, and he is eager to return to the court. Giannis said he would even participate in preseason games to regain his playing shape.
