One of the better games of the elimination rounds was expected of the quarterfinal encounter between Canada and Slovenia. Without a doubt, the game met expectations.Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, an All-Star for the Oklahoma City Thunder, had a fantastic game with 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Doncic, his Slovenian rival, scored 26 points. His performance, though, was overshadowed by a late-game dispute. Dillon Brooks, a player for the Houston Rockets, did a good job at protecting the Dallas Mavericks superstar. It's interesting to note that the match became so tense that Doncic's left shoulder had obvious scratch marks.
Even worse, with six minutes remaining in regular time in the fourth quarter, the 2019 Rookie of the Year was dismissed from the contest. Slovenia lost their best player when trailing Canada 92–77. Dillon Brooks suffered the same fate only a minute before Luka's second technical penalty that resulted in disqualification. His dismissal, though, didn't harm his squad as much as Doncic's.
