Amid Kanye West Saga, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Calls Out Kim Kardashian and Her Family for "Delayed" Comments

American rapper Kanye West’s allegedly anti-Semitic comments have taken the world by storm. The superstar artist made some controversial comments on Twitter and during interviews. West’s take on the Jewish community has been condemned by celebrities and athletes alike. Recently, Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar condemned West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her family for delayed comments regarding the whole fiasco. Moreover, several multinational brands including Adidas, Balenciaga, J.P. Morgan bank, the GAP, and Def Jam have ended their business relationship with Kanye West.

The six-time NBA champ gave his take on the Kanye West saga recently on his online Substack platform. Kareem reckoned that West’s comments have given white supremacists an excuse to express their ‘insanity’ and hatred openly. The 19-time All-Star criticized West for failing to understand that anti-Semitic groups were using his name as a justification to demonstrate their hatred.

Further, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar cited the stats about the reduction in Kanye West’s music popularity on airplay and streaming platforms. He acknowledged the various brands and West’s talent agency CAA for cutting ties with him following his controversial comments.

Moreover, Kareem called out Kanye’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her family for a delayed response to the controversial situation. The Los Angeles Lakers legend wrote, “The Kardashians, including West’s ex-wife Kim, waited two weeks to respond with a refutation of his comments. Two weeks is a long time when you’re part of the group being bullied, harassed, and attacked.”
Abdul-Jabbar laid out the facts of how the past atrocities on the Jewish community are becoming a fading memory in America. Thus, he suggested that everyone must be vigilant against any hateful comments towards marginalized communities.

While Kanye West received a great deal of backlash worldwide, Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner have finally addressed the issue on social media. “I support my Jewish friends and the Jewish people,” the sisters wrote on their Instagram stories. The Kanye West saga seems to be far from over. The repercussions of West’s comments are slowly beginning to unfurl.
