Breaking 35-Year-Old Record, $207 Million Star Luka Doncic Joins Michael Jordan Following Historic NBA Performance

Luka Doncic just made history. The Dallas Mavericks star became the first player in three decades to score at least 30 points in the first six games of the season. Additionally, Doncic also has a record of scoring at least 20 points in 19 consecutive games. The last player to maintain the impressive streak was ‘His Airness’ himself. The former Chicago Bulls great had set the record back in 1986. Notably, this isn’t the first time Doncic has broken a record previously set by Jordan. In 2019, Doncic surpassed MJ’s record for the highest number of straight 20-5-5 games in the league’s history. Doncic set the record during the Mavs game against the Sacramento Kings. The 23-year-old NBA star finished the game with 27 points, 8 assists, and 7 rebounds. When asked to give his thoughts on the major achievement, Doncic was overwhelmed by being mentioned in the same sentence as Michael Jordan.

Doncic said, “I mean, I don’t know. It’s a lot of stats going on. I think it’s a little bit too much stats. You can’t compare nobody to Michael Jordan. He’s one of a kind. Those are just stats.”

Two years later, Luka Doncic made the headlines yet again when he broke another one of MJ’s records. In 2021, Doncic surpassed Jordan on the all-time triple-double list after the Mavs lost to the Chicago Bulls. The Mavs point guard now sits in the 10th position with 45 triple-doubles.

The Dallas Mavericks faced the Orlando Magic on October 30, 2022, at the American Airlines Center. Orlando Magic rookie Paolo Banchero scored the team’s highest with 18 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. Additionally, Bol Bol scored 16 points and 11 rebounds. On the other hand, Luka Doncic was on a roll with an impressive 44 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds. Behind him was Tim Hardaway Jr., adding 21 points with 3 assists and 1 rebound.

The Dallas Mavericks have won six out of their nine games so far. Meanwhile, Doncic continues to give spectacular performances on the court. Fans can only hope that the Mavs star can lead his team to the playoffs in order to have a shot at the championship title. In 2021, the three-time NBA All-Star signed a contract extension with the Mavs that was worth a whopping $207 million.
