Did Dennis Rodman Go to Russia to Help Britney Griner?

NBA legend Dennis Rodman made headlines all around the world recently. However, it was not for anything related to the sport or his usual antics. The former NBA champion revealed that he got permission to help WNBA star, Brittney Griner. During an interview with NBC, Rodman confirmed that he “got permission to go to Russia”. Moreover, the Chicago Bulls legend also said, “I know Putin too well.”

Despite having the experience of holding talks at an internal level, Billy Hayes, who was previously sentenced to prison in Turkey, felt Rodman will have trouble with Putin. Talking in an interview, Hayes said, “I don’t think you are going to be able to handle Vladimir Putin the way he did with Kim Jong Un. I think it’s just going to add to Brittney’s problems and the logistics of trying to bring her home.“

Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner has spent a long time in Russian prison already. Earlier this year, she was arrested by Russian officials on charges of carrying illegal substances. Subsequently, this led to a long legal process and the court recently announced its verdict. Griner was sentenced to 9 years in prison following her conviction.

Despite Rodman’s claims about him going to Russia to help out Griner, it seems the former NBA champion has taken back his words. According to the latest reports, Rodman will not be going to Russia.

This came after officials cautioned Dennis regarding his actions and also asserted that his trip will not be on behalf of the Government. According to reports, WNBA star Brittney Griner recently lost her appeal in Russia.
