NBA teams have to go through a tedious regular season to make it into the top eight in their respective conference's and then the playoffs begin. 

Here are five NBA teams who had the greatest playoff run in the league's history, based on their dominance at the time and games won by the franchise.

Detroit Pistons-1989
(15-2 postseason)

The Detroit Pistons were known as the 'Bad Boy Pistons' for a reason. They had legends like Isiah Thomas, Dennis Rodman, and Joe Dumars at this time. In 1989, they had 15 wins and 2 losses in the playoffs only. They even finished at the top in the East with a 63-19 record. In the finals, they met their previous year's championship rivals, the Lakers. And swept the series, winning the title.

San Antonio Spurs- 1999
(15-2 postseason)

It was the beginning of a new era for the Spurs under Gregg Popovich. They had players like Sean Elliott, Avery Johnson, and the 'Twin Towers', Duncan Robinson, and Tim Duncan. They started the season poorly and landing at the bottom of the West but covered up by winning 31 of their last 36 games of the season and eventually defeated the Knicks 4-1 in the NBA Finals.

Chicago Bulls 1991
(15-2 postseason)

The Chicago Bulls led by Michael Jordan is one of the greatest teams of all-time in the league's history.  MJ led the team with star players like Scottie Pippen, John Paxson, Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, and B.J. Armstrong. The team won a then franchise-record 61 games in the regular season. They met the Lakers in the NBA Finals and defeated them 4-1, with MJ becoming the MVP.

Los Angeles Lakers-2001
(15-1 postseason)

The Lakers had won the title last year as well and hopes were very high this year too, with the dynamic duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal firing on all cylinders. The team finished with a season record of 56-36 and were seconded-seeded in the West, behind the Spurs. They eventually met the 76ers in the finals and won the series 4-1.

Golden State Warriors-2017
(16-1 postseason)

As soon as Kevin Durant was added to the roster, they were hailed as a superteam, alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. KD's addition made them so unstoppable that their regular season record was 67-15 games. They finished on top of the Western Conference, becoming the fastest team to clinch a playoff berth. The defeated the Cavs 4-1 to lift the title.
