Mother Sonya Akins Stephen Curry to Michael Jackson, and Other Prominent Stars in a Sincere Gesture to the Warriors Superstar
It is currently sunny in Warriors-Ville! The reigning NBA champions recently received their championship rings on opening night. As if that wasn’t enough, Stephen Curry and co. went on to grab their first victory of the 2022-23 season. The team is probably basking in their glory while fans are cheering them on. Of course, the team still has a long way to go to prove themselves as the defending champions, but they have arguably kick-started their campaign perfectly. And how can fans forget the backbone of each player – their families? There is no doubt that they are on cloud nine at the moment. Furthermore, Warriors superstar Stephen Curry’s mom Sonya seems to have taken a trip down memory lane.
When it comes to embarrassing childhood pictures, you can always count on your mother to proudly show them off to the world. Of course, they do it with utter love and affection. And Sonya Curry is just like every other mom. She recently shared an adorable photo of a young Steph Curry on Instagram.
Sonya uploaded a photo that was a collage of a young Stephen Curry combined with the photos of the ‘King of Pop’ Michael Jackson, and legendary singer-songwriters Lionel Richie and Luther Vandross. All four photos had one thing in common though. The pose of the icons in the pictures was similar to each other. Including Curry – as they were all posing toward the camera while lying on the side propped up.
On the collage was written, “You knew the album was great when they hit this lean on the cover”. Additionally in the caption, Sonya wrote, “Stephen Curry THREEler!!!”, a clever wordplay on MJ’s famous ‘Thriller‘ and a reference to Curry being the all-time three-point scoring leader in the league’s history.
Interestingly, Curry’s Met Gala look last year was inspired by the ‘King of Pop’. Mr. and Mrs. Curry both graced the Met Gala 2021 looking spectacular. While Ayesha opted for a champagne gold dress, Steph wore a black suit with gold embellishments. Later on, the Golden State Warriors star took to his social media handle and uploaded a couple of photos from the event. Curry also shared a picture of MJ wearing a similar gold-embellished black blazer. The photo of MJ was taken during the shoot of the 1985 music video ‘We are the World’.
