Steph Curry’s Failed Dunk, LeBron James’ Evergreen Jump Shots, and Other Top Highlights From Warriors’ Opening Night Win vs Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers may have started out strong in their opening game but the Golden State Warriors finally found their offensive rhythm in the second half and defeated them 121-114.

If anybody missed the action-packed game, here are some of the top highlights for tonight's game.

LeBron and DJ start with a bang

The game begins at Staples Center and the Lakers give hope to fans when they start off big as LeBron James finds DeAndre Jordan for the long-range lob. The size advantage of the Lakers could be felt.

Bron takes care of defense

Midway through the first quarter, the Lakers go on a 10-0 run, taking a 17-12 lead. And that's when LeBron steps up to block a shot.

Crowd welcomes Carmelo Anthony and Rajon Rondo

The home crowd gives a warm welcome to Carmelo Anthony and 2020 champion Rajon Rondo back with the Lakers. On the other side, Steph was struggling who went 1-for-7 from the field to start this game.  But they find their rhythm towards the end of this quarter and cut the deficit to 2 points. It's 34-32 at the end of the first quarter.

Russell Westbrook makes his first bucket of the game

As the second quarter begins, LeBron is 5-5 and had scored 14 points, yet to miss a shot. And then Russ gets his first bucket of the game with a layup. He is 1-of-5 from the field. Purple and gold still leading the way 48-43 midway through the second.

Unstoppable Anthony Davis

The Warriors had no answer for Anthony Davis. He was leading the Lakers at this point with 20 points on 9-of-16 shooting. But despite their dominance, the Warriors keep at it and keeps their lead shot and it's halftime at 59-53.

Jordan Poole's first three

The Golden State Warriors finally start catching up. As the third quarter begins, Jordan Poole drops his first three-pointer that helps tie the game 61-61.

LBJ x AD connection

LeBron and AD showcase their mid-season chemistry already. Bron's deft touch pass for the layup seals a 7-0 for the Lakers, making 68-61. By now, both these starts combined 49 points.

LeBron can still fly?

It's year 19 and LeBron is still doing just king things as he flies across the floor to make a bucket. The Warriors get a scare when Steph slips and appears to have injured his ankle. Thankfully, a quick tape-job later, he gets back on the floor.

Carmelo's violation

Carmelo Anthony's pump fake at the free-throw line sends social media rolling on the floor with laughter. This results in a violation. However, Steph still seems to be under a lot of pressure because of the Lakers' defense and has a tough night shooting the ball. Still, the Warriors are hanging on at an 85-83 score at the end of the third.

Here comes Steph!

With just 9 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, the Dubs finally take the lead as Stephen Curry makes his way into the paint and drops a bucket in style. Their bench squad takes over to take a 98-90 lead, their biggest this game.

Jordan Poole keeps it up!

Jordan Poole keeps pouring buckets and has 16 points by now. In the midst of this, LeBron climbs to the 12th spot in the all-time three-pointers list with his fourth triple of the night.

Nemanja Bjelica's flagrant on LBJ

Bjelica is called for a flagrant 1 after smacking LeBron on the head as he was driving to the bucket. However, he put up an impressive performance throughout for the Warriors, putting up 15 points till now.

Warriors open season with a Win

The Lakers missed free throws, could not handle the Warriors' ball movement, helping them create open shots consistently led the Warriors to finish them off at a score of 121-114.
