‘Lock In’: Michael Jordan, Damian Lillard and Other NBA Players Respond to Warriors Triumph Over Lakers on Opening Night

The 75th anniversary of the NBA turned out to be very lucky for the Golden State Warriors, who defeated the Los Angeles Lakers on the opening night of the 2021-22 season. On the other hand, the Lakers have carried their losing streak from the preseason into the regular season. This can’t be a very good sign for all they sought out to accomplish with the super team they built this offseason. However, the NBA players couldn’t help but showcase their reactions to this big matchup on social media.
Golden State Warriors do it, yet again!
This wasn’t any different from what we saw in the preseason. The Golden State Warriors defeated the Los Angeles Lakers twice before this season opener. But those wins and losses were being dismissed because the preseason hardly counts for anything. But it looks like it was a sneak peek at what their face-off will be like in the first game.

Things didn’t look very good for the Dubs when they started off. Stephen Curry was struggling to take a shot, while James Wiseman and Klay Thompson were benched to recover from their injuries. On top of that, the Lakers finally had their much-anticipated Big Three making its debut. It seemed like a no-brainer but Russell Westbrook had a disappointing debut for the Lakers which resulted in the 121-114 loss.

Seems like a trio is not all that it takes to win games. And here’s what the other NBA players had to say about the Warriors finally showing they are title contenders this season.
Preseason games MATTERS when it comes down to Chemistry!!! The Lakers took the Preseason for GRANTED while the Warriors took ADVANTAGE of the Preason! Offensively the Lakers offense look horrible and the Warriors look like a well oiled machine. Carry on…

Reason to worry about the Lakers?

If it wasn’t for the efforts the Warriors’ bench players put in and the stellar fourth-quarter comeback, this could have been a whole other ending. In spite of LeBron James and Anthony Davis scoring 30+ points, it just wasn’t enough.
Much like the preseason, Jordan Poole’s performance was a difference-maker. He scored 20 points, just one less than that of Steph, who had 21 points, along with 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
The Lakers are next playing the Phoenix Suns. This means they have plenty of reasons to worry if they don’t get it together against a team that reached the NBA finals last season. Will the Lakers put an end to their bad run anytime soon? Or is there more disappointment for fans on its way?
