Michael Jordan, owing to his offensive onslaught, spearheaded the Chicago Bulls to unprecedented heights. In the process of enchanting the globe with his hooping mastery, he delivered six championships to the Windy City. He offered the Chicago fanbase a getaway from reality and innumerable blissful moments that they still cherish to this day. No opponent stood firm in front of ‘His Airness’. However, it wasn’t just his basketball skills that had the opposing defenders decimated. In fact, his hooping weaponry, coupled with his unwavering competitive drive, undoubtedly catapulted the legend to the pinnacle of sporting greatness.

The legendary anecdotes of Michael Jordan‘s unrivaled competitiveness are well chronicled. However, this begs the question of where the Bulls icon got his competitiveness from. Well, according to Jordan, it was his “competitive” siblings that ignited the fire within him. Owing to a legendary career riddled with accolades and triumphs, Michael Jordan was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009. The six-time champion delivered a heartfelt speech, thanking everyone involved in helping him reach the mountaintop.

During the speech, an emotional Jordan spoke about his siblings and gave them their flowers for helping him take his competitiveness to the next level. He first acknowledged his brothers, James, and Larry Jordan. Jordan remarked that they provided him with all he could have asked for in terms of competition. He went on to call Larry the perfect embodiment of “small things come in small packages”.

“This dude fought me every single day,” said Jordan. MJ then remarked that the competition wasn’t just confined to his brothers. It leaked beyond that as his sister, Roslyn Jordan, shared the same competitive fire.
“And the completion didn’t stop there”, said Jordan.

“My sister, who is one year younger than me, Roz, never wanted to be home by herself. She took classes, extra classes to graduate high school with me, to go to the University of North Carolina with me, and to graduate prior to me. And you guys ask me where my competitive nature came from? It came from them.” Michael Jordan’s competitiveness garnered the NBA legend countless honors and cemented his place among the greatest athletes in history. And MJ has his siblings to thank for it.
