7x Champ Drags Damian Lillard After Stan Van Gundy’s ‘Ridiculous’ Comments on Anthony Davis Making NBA Top-75 Over Dwight Howard

The NBA unveiled their 75th Anniversary Team in 2021, which featured the Top 75 All-Time Players. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant were among the glaring omissions from the list. However, a handful of the names on the list, notably Damian Lillard, caused a discussion among the NBA community. Fans thought that the NBA's Top 75 list omitted a number of famous players. Some of the biggest names left off the list included Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, and Dwight Howard. Former coach of three-time DPOY Howard Stan Van Gundy chose Dwight over Anthony Davis of the Lakers for the 75th anniversary team. And now Damian Lillard has been brought up by 7-time champion Robert Horry.

Anthony Davis shouldn’t be in the Top 75?

When Stan Van Gundy was asked why AD made the Top 75 and Dwight did not, he made a controversial statement backing his former Magic Center, “You cannot make a case that Anthony Davis has had a better career than Dwight Howard. That’s absolutely ridiculous.”

The case for dwight howard

Dwight led the Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals against Kobe Bryant and the Lakers after winning three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year titles in Orlando. Even in the latter years of his career, he was a defensive powerhouse throughout his peak and assisted AD in winning his first championship in 2020.
