Amid NFL’s $6,050,000,000 Testimony, Teary-Eyed Magic Johnson Reflects on Historic Triumph: “I Don’t Know Why…”

With a unique set of owners, the NFL team Washington Commanders is entering a new era. The franchise is happy to welcome Josh Harris' new ownership group after the much-needed departure of Dan Snyder's ownership. NBA star Magic Johnson, who posted about his eagerness for joining the organisation on his social media accounts, is an important member of the group.

A proud moment for the NBA legend Magic Johnson

Magic was teary-eyed as he said, “This is a great opportunity. I don’t know why God blessed me with these opportunities, but I want to excel, not only for myself but [for] my family. But for all African Americans, making sure we can see ourselves in these seats. I want people to know that we can do the job.”

As a football fan, he is ecstatic about the new ownership and took to Twitter to share his happiness with the fans. He said, “I grew up playing football as a kid, I’m a huge NFL fan, and I watch games every week. Now, I get to co-own a storied franchise, the Washington Commanders.”

The story behind the sale of Washington Commanders

On July 20, all NFL owners voted to approve the team's sale. Josh Harris, a multibillionaire and co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers, bought the Washington Commanders, ending Snyder's two-decade reign as owner.

One of the priciest agreements for a professional sports franchise in North America, the consortium finalised the acquisition for an absurd $6.05 billion. The four-time NBA champion is also a member of the organisation, as was previously revealed. He keeps the fans informed about his new NFL position.
